The Amazing Things
I urge you not to throw away time, for it’s swift as an arrow, fast as a stream. Distraction is entirely due to lack of concentration; stupidity and blindness are caused by lack of true knowledge.
-Yung-Ming, “Five Houses of Zen”
Isn’t this the truest statement ever made?
This week while clearing some old emails from my inbox I noted a rash of things sent from me to me, work to home. Although these emails are a year old, some older, it seemed funny that the concerns I had for my life at that time are exactly the same concerns I have for my life right now. Essentially, nothing in the past year has changed substantially. Whatever path I was on at that time must have looked like a traffic circle, because here I am again. The same questions, the same worries, doubts, etc. So a year has gone by but in reading these emails the memory of writing them is fresh as if it was last week. My oh my, how time does fly!
