The Spaghetti and Pizza Sauce I Made in the Slow Cooker Crockpot

July 11th, 2005

Spaghetti/Pizza Sauce:
On Saturday morning I started the crock pot to run while we were at the pool all day. I wanted to make some spaghetti/pizza sauce like Amy Dacyzyn, the Frugal Zealot, does. I used one large yellow onion left over from last week, chopped. One large green pepper, on sale for 2/$1 this week. Two or three cloves garlic. All this sweated in a skillet with a couple tablespoons of olive oil. While this was sweating I opened two 28oz (24oz?) cans of chopped tomatoes in sauce and started them heating in the crock pot. When the skillet veggies were done it was all scraped into the crockpot with the tomatoes and completely forgotten about with the lid half cocked (to reduce).

Saturday night after the pool party I was WAY too tired to put away the tomato sauce, so just chucked it into a plastic container and left in the fridge.
